After completing the module, write a short, 300-600 word, journal reflection, especially focusing on Thurman’s talk, “The Negro Spiritual Speaks of Life and Death,” given at Harvard Divinity School (my old school). Specifically, be sure to address the following question: How, according to Thurman, were the slave singers creative thinkers, offering powerful human prospects where there seemed to be no prospects?
