TITLE: CRIM 316 RESEARCH PAPER II
DUE DATE: August 1, 2019
LEARNING OBJECTIVE: To help students further understand the research paper methodology through personal research, resource allocation, and contextual articulation.
ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION: Students will complete a 3 or more page paper on a criminological topic of their choice. The cover, abstract, and references pages are not included in this page count. The subject of your research paper must cover a criminology / law enforcement challenge in this modern era. You must identify a compelling issue faced by the law enforcement community that you believe warrants additional research. Use scholarly articles to articulate your perspective on the issue. Your paper should briefly address policies or decision making practices within one of the provided topics. There are three (3) parts to this assignment. Part I. Prepare a complete research paper for an edit and revision session with our graduate assistant Reilly Teal (optional). Part II. Student will submit their paper for a second revision with all necessary corrections to rteal@sycamores.indstate.edu (optional). Part III Submit a completed research paper via Turnitin online for a final grade.
Students are encouraged to explore possible research topics throughout the weeks of chapter review in order to gather possible research topics of interest. After selecting your specific topic, each student is expected to write a 3 or more page paper which provides details concerning what their research covered. The cover, abstract, and references pages are not included in this page count.

Your research paper topic must come directly from one of the articles provided for the Blackboard Discussions. Your paper will consist of 3 or more typed pages, double spaced, 12pt Times New Roman font and should be in the APA format. If the paper is not in APA format, it will not be accepted/graded and you will receive a ZERO for this assignment.

DIRECTIONS FOR STUDENTS:
a. Students will select their research topics. It is suggested that students find a topic to attend well in advance of their deadline. Write your paper and explain your understanding of the material you reviewed.
b. Students will submit the paper with proper APA formatting. Review the ISU library and Purdue OWL formatting resources to ensure the paper is stylized correctly. You will also contact the ISU Writing Center and have your paper reviewed to ensure it meets all APA style requirements. (Note that if you submit your paper to the Writing Center that there may be a 3-4 day waiting period for results.)
c. Students will submit the paper via Turnitin.
d. Review the Rubric in order to earn maximum points for this assignment.
e. This research paper, and other subsequent writing assignments are designed to evaluate how well you articulate your ideas in an American Psychological Association (APA) 6th edition style restricted manor. Therefore, use the manual or the APA guide provided.
f. Part I, students will submit their paper with proper grammar, and APA styling to rteal@sycamores.indstate.edu (optional)
g. Part II, Student will submit the second revision with all necessary corrections to rteal@sycamores.indstate.edu (optional)
h. Part III, students will submit their finalized research paper for a thorough academic evaluation via Turnitin, on or before August 1, 2019, 11:59 P.M.
i. Evaluate the significance of your sources. Prepare to defend your choices.
j. Three Google Scholar sources must be used and identified, basically one source for each required page of the paper, 3 or more means, 3 or more sources must be utilized for this paper. It is recommended you review 5 or more resources before settling on the 3 most compelling. The cover, abstract, and references pages are not included in this page count.
