Write a brief analysis evidence Based-Practice

Write a brief analysis (no longer than 2 pages) of the connection between EBP and the Quadruple Aim.

Your analysis should address how EBP might (or might not) help reach the Quadruple Aim, including each of the four measures of:

Patient experience
Population health
Costs
Work life of healthcare providers

EBP and Quadruple Aim
Evidence-based practices advocates for the use of the best and current practices to carry out medical procedures. The purpose of evidence-based practice is to improve the quality of patient care (Melnyk, 2017). In the process of providing patient care, the work life of nurses is also crucial. On the other hand Quadruple Aim refers to the four pillars of healthcare including patient care, population health, cost of healthcare, and work life of healthcare providers. There is a connection between evidence-based practice and the Quadruple Aim (Lavenberg et al., 2019). The reason is that the use of the current and best practices have been used to improve the achievement of Quadruple Aim. Previously, the Quadruple Aim was achieved after it was upgraded from Triple Aim. The upgrade is a clear example that current and best practices have been used to enhance Quadruple Aim.
Quadruple Aim depends on research findings to improve medical procedures. For example, patient care, one of the pillars of Quadruple Aim, involves the satisfaction of patients when they visit a health facility (Morrow, Call, Marcus & Locke, 2018). The quality of treatment will be dependent on the evidence-based practices that have been embraced in the health facility. The best hospitals in the world have been highly-rated for the superb quality of patient care. One of the reasons is that they have embraced evidence-based practices. Some hospitals have independent departments carrying out research and synthesizing data from other studies. For instance, the elimination of medical complications during treatment have been eliminated by using the best and current medical practices (Morrow, Call, Marcus & Locke, 2018). Therefore, evidence-based practice is connected to the Quadruple Aim.
Population health comprises of the behaviors that people can embrace to improve their quality of health. Scholars have indicated that regular exercise and healthy eating habits can improve health outcomes in a population (Lavenberg et al., 2019). Some habits lower the health outcomes in a community such as smoking, alcoholism or drinking untreated water. Therefore, the purpose of evidence-based practice is to find strategies on how a community can be directed to adopt healthy habits. For example, population health comprises of cases such as abortion, family planning, and HIV/AIDs (Melnyk, 2017). To realize a healthy community, there is a need for research to find out how to prevent abortion, eliminate HIV/AIDs and advocate for healthy family planning strategies. Evidence-based practices will be used to support population health, which is a pillar of Quadruple Aim.
The cost of healthcare has remained controversial across the world. In the United States, former president Barack Obama introduced Obamacare with an intention of reducing the cost of healthcare. Cost of healthcare, as a pillar of Quadruple Aim, cannot be attained without evidence-based research (Melnyk, 2017). One of the controversies, when Obamacare was introduced, is whether it is evidence-based. Finally, it was proven that the approach was evidence-based. Evidence-based practices will advocate for the elimination of unnecessary medical procedures that waste resources and time.
The work life of health providers is essential since it eliminates cases of mistakes that doctors make due to exhaustion. When a health provider is stressed due to a huge workload, they are likely to make mistakes. Clinical burnouts have been associated with a reduction in the quality of healthcare. Therefore, to improve the work environment and introduce professional programs such as friendly shifts, evidence-based practices will be involved (Morrow, Call, Marcus & Locke, 2018). The reason is that the research will provide data on the state of the work life of the healthcare providers and how the condition can be improved.
