In his book aimed at discussing about science and how it possibly isn’t a perfect form of knowledge, Dr. Beach, (2013, p6), pointed out that the average people tend to perceive science as some sort of magic. This is because they are oblivious of the fact that scientific conclusions transcend common sense. As a result they maintain a myopic assumption that science could be some sort of cultural; authority or even reject is as an epithet of a prejudiced cultural belief. In the fifth chapter of his book, Dr. Beach, (2013, p7), illustrates that science is a unique platform to fathoming the objective world. In addition, he observed that science is comprised of several scientific methods that can be put together to help illustrate and understand our world objectively. Moreover, the physical and social scientists are constantly formulating theories, techniques and methods that makes deeper descriptions, predictions and explanations about the objective world possible, corresponding to the consistently changing technologies and set of ideas.
In addition, Dennett, (2003, p6), pointed out that science is a technology of truth because scientists are known to draw conclusions based existing evidence which are then presented for further scrutiny and judgement. In the process of gathering evidence to come up with technologies that are useful in predicting the future among other pertinent applications, scientists often begin by gathering existing literature about the subject at hand then proceed to generate theories that are used to put all the existing knowledge together. This way, reliable information about how the objective world works can be pieced to gather and demonstrated in a miniaturized environment.
To counter their theories, scientists comes up with hypotheses which are definitive assumptions that can be proven true or false on the basis of the performance of the theory. Following measurable experiments accompanied by accurate data collection, a set of data is collected and analyzed to prove the validity or the invalidity of the hypothesis. The collected data is then summarized into findings that are subsequently subjected for peer review, prior to publication with an aim of passing reliable information to the objective world. According to Beach, (2013, p 16), science has been helpful over time in terms of improving peoples’ lives through inventions and knowledge.

Fact or fiction: understanding the difference between fake news and truth
In this era of information and technology, information influx is evident from various platforms. While the benefits of information technology are obvious, it is also perceived as a challenge. The invention of the internet is a major contribution to the news circulation process and allied industries, however, it poses a major challenge to the consumer’s in terms of knowing the right information to consume and the wroth or invalidated news that are worth rejecting. The risks associated with free exchange of ideas due to accessibility of information is another challenge that calls for a validation mechanism for information that is freely available through certain platform like the internet.
In his critical evaluation, Dr. Beach, (2013, p), pointed out at the need to scrutinize the content of certain news while regard some with little, in addition, he pointed out to the ensuring culture and social erosion that comes with the free flow of information. In the fifth chapter of his book Dr. Beach, (2013, c5), elucidated the essence of critiquing the natural exchange of ideas and raised issues on how quick people tend to be in trusting authoritative individuals,. The difference between knowing and trusting information is one of the critical issues to pay special attention to in the modern society, sine the reliability and truthfulness of information is still subject to a lot of biasness varying from an individual’s perception to the other.
Moreover, the natural human weakness in trusting authoritative people or sources of information is huge debacle in judging what is valid and what is not when it comes to the readily available information. In addition, the soaring penetration of the social media is becoming a challenge to individuals and authorities who might be interested in controlling the proliferation of fake news. In light of the above, the essence of maintaining the validity of information that circulates in the society is of urgent essence, however, the mechanism is a big challenge. Existence and consumption of fake news is a reality that needs taming nonetheless.
