One night the ghost of Hamlet’s fathers appears to him and tells him that Claudius has disillusioned him. King Hamlet wants prince to seek revenge and to kill his uncle Claudius. Later he arranges an old play whose story has been the same to that Claudius. Hamlets attitude and behavior is bad and he is always mad. this essay I’m going to discuss the Hamlet’s madness jeopardizes his relationship with Ophelia and Gertrude. The relationship between Hamlet’s mother and Ophelia change related to the problem of revenge and honor.

Ophelia is the daughter of Polonius (The Lord high chamberlain of the Danish royal court), and sister of Laerte’s. She loves the Prince of Demark, which is Hamlet. She is also Hamlets’ love interesting. In Act III develop, of the Confrontation by Ophelia. In this scene Hamlet is confronted by Ophelia, while his father and king Claudius are hiding as “lawful espials”(Lidz 67). In this scene Hamlet act really mind with Ophelia. Although Hamlet let’s enduring love for Ophelia. Showing the way he finishes his musically as he sees her approach: “The fair Ophelia? -Nymph, in thy orisons/Be all my sins remember’d” (III, I, 89-90). “He is soon carried away into a tirade against Ophelia, against all women, against himself, and against all mankind”. (Lidz 67). In this sentence of the play he is letting us that he is mad at everybody in which he wants to start looking for revenge for his father death. He just cares about killing his uncle Claudius. Ophelia, of course, knows that she has repelled Hamlet, but here she accuses him intimating that he has leaved her. Hamlet is the one that don’t care for her anymore. He changes. He wants to give the opportunity to reclaim his love. He can become engaged in lover’s quarrel that ends in reconciliation, but because of his aversion to pretense, his anger that Ophelia have to listen to her father better than remain to him, his suspicious that they are been watched, but because of his mother disillusionment that have let him distrust all women, and he attack her rudely and badly. He is been so mind with her. He is rehashing

her. However, he laugh at her for believing that he loved her, but in so doing he is really denouncing his mother’s and his uncle’s dishonesty. He sees no sense in preserving his

family lone or mankind, for “why wouldst thou be a breeder of sinner? I am myself indifferent honest; but yet I could accuse me of such things that it were better my mother had not borne me” (III, i, 121-124). In this quote he grows more offensive and pronounces his misogynistic curs: “If thou does marry, I’ll give thee this plague for thy dowry: be thou as chaste as ice, as pure as snow, thus shalt not escape calumny. Get thee to nunnery, go” (III, I 135-137). At the end he end up saying ” I say, we will have no more marriages; those that are marriage already, all but one, shall live; the rest shall keep as they are” (III, i,147-149). Ophelia is so disappointment at Hamlet by his reaction on her. She takes his ratings as a sign of his madness and laments him for having a crazy mind. In this scene Ophelia seems to care so much for Prince Hamlet, in reality she is so mad at everything he says, she don’t really know that everything he is saying is for revenge and honor of his father death.

“Ophelia is madness in apposition to Hamlet’s, illuminating the causes of each by making Ophelia’s plight the female counterpart of Hamlet’s dilemma. The action around Ophelia’s insanity forms the counter theme to the action surrounding Hamlet’s madness, balancing the plot and leading to Hamlet’s death as well as to Ophelia’s”. (Lidz 88). This quote is describing the importance that Hamlet and Ophelia had. In reality Hamlet was not mad at her, he was just doing everything for revenge with his uncle. Ophelia seems that she can’t understood her father murder. In other words, it was not her father murder

that was driven her mad, but somewhat, his murder by Hamlet, the man who she loves and ahead whose love she has placed on her dreams. And she can’t never marriage him, and him can’t never marriage her because of her fathers death. Otherwise she has an obligation to hate him. Ophelia’s father was really important to her, in which Hamlet had considered an old fool. Hamlet’s attitude and behavior in the directionof Ophelia could not but be tremendously unsettling to her who adores him. For Ophelia, Hamlet only means madness and mean.

Gertrude is Hamlet’s mother. She is an ignorant that brother- in-law, Claudius murder her Husband. But she is blind she find out that the one who murder King Hamlet was Claudius her new husband. There are some reasons in which Hamlet change with his mother. After his father died he was mind to her, he didn’t allow mothering him and he was disrespectful with her. Hamlet felling to his mother were growing more violent mind. Hamlet didn’t inform his mother that Claudius kills his father. He cannot convince what could attract her to Claudius; it cannot even be madness but must be a devil. He cannot understand sexuality:

O Sham! Where is thy blush? Rebellious hell,

If thus canst mutine in a matron’s bones,

To flaming youth let virtue be as wax

And melt in her own fire; proclaim n shame

When the compulsive ardour gives the charge,

Since frost itself as actively doth burn,

And reason panders will. (III, iv, 82-88)

In this scene his mother cannot stop his denunciation of her, and Hamlet becomes more specific:

Nay, but to live

In the rank sweat of an endeared bed,

Stew’d in corruption, honeying and making love

Over the nasty sty,- (III,iv, 91-93).

He is treating his mother bad. He believes that his mother marriage to soon with his Uncle. Hamlet change a lot with his mother related with revenge and honor for his father.

In conclusion Hamlet change because of his father death. He was a different person with everyone before his father was murder. He was mad with his uncle Claudius because he murders his father for him to be the king. His mother was not a victim of Claudius. Hamlet was mad at his mother because she marriage him to soon. Ophelia was the women that he likes. But because of his seeking revenge and honor of his father everything change. He looses the lady of his dreams for his father. The writer enjoys reading and watching the play of Hamlet. It was a very interesting plays that most students’ cry for the love of Ophelia and Hamlet.
