Develop a GUI-based MATLAB program to produce visual scenes containing animated
stick figures, mostly in 2-D, but also for at least one 3-D example (discussed below). In 2-D, your
program should be able to place multiple stick figures at user-specified locations, where each stick
figure can be animated by a pre-specified program, that is selected from a menu or drop-down list
when the figure is added to the scene. Your GUI should also allow the user to choose among at least
two types of stick figures to add to the scene: a human, and a pet (eg. dog, horse or elephant). Five
or more user-selectable animation programs should be included: walking to the right,walking to the
left, jumping up and down, and at least two more of your team’s choice. The GUI should include a
RUN button that starts animating all stick figures in the scene based on a common time vector, and
a CLEAR button that removes all stick figures from the scene. The program (script) bodysegs and
the function aniseg(), in the animation folder of the course (MATLAB Part 2), may be used for
inspiration but all drawings should take place on the GUI (not on a separate window), and it may be
beneficial to define angles for each joint and have these angles change over time to produce the
animations (rather than moving nodes directly; each limb may then have a constant length).
In 3-D, your program should be able to animate the movement of a crawling infant as described in
the Main Reference below. In this case, your animation program would approximate the plots of
joint angle versus time using trigonometric functions, line segments, or other appropriate strategies.
